MOVIE REVIEW: “DEJA VU”
Denzel Washington does another fine acting job in “Deja Vu,” a new thriller from director Tony Scott. Washington plays an ATF investigator called to investigate a terrorist attack on a ferry in the port of New Orleans. A bomb has killed a number of civilians and Navy personnel and, as Washington’s character begins to gather evidence, he finds a link between the bombing and the murder of a young woman whose body was found down river from the explosion.
Frustrated when the trail goes cold, the ATF agent is stunned when he’s approached by an F.B.I. team who say they can give him a look at the young woman’s recent past. It seems the government has stumbled onto a process that will allow scientists to bend time and look back four days into the past . That period holds the key to the murder and the bombing.
The film’s creative screenplay does a fine job of mixing its science fiction elements with an engaging mystery and a bit of a romance that resembles the classic drama “Laura.” One element never overwhelms the others and there’s even a bit of humor sprinkled throughout the film. Scott keeps the pacing taught enough to keep your interest, but not so fast that it obscures important plot points. This is a superior piece of entertainment, a great piece of popcorn movie making.
MPAA RATING: PG-13 for violence and profanity .
JOE’S RATING: THREE AND A HALF STARS.

Deja Vu was a movie that moved me in more ways than anyone could know……….I easily placed myself in the main character as Mr Scott created a clear vision of a scientifically impotent concept of time travel [just not enough believable feedback - I guess it would have taken another half-hour of interdimensional theory] as we become well aware that this Kool-Aid society apts to take a simple route towards entertainment. “Denzie” had the expectant dazz and brilliance…but it was the young idealistic scientist character[his name leaves me - but that ain't hard-lol] that hubbed the true essence of the storyline - he just doesnt have the “GLITTER” factor. I truly appreciate characters that take that chance to “DARE 2 DO YOU”……Gorgeous co-star [names....oh so hard on the brain!!]……A VERY believable talent. I dedicated this movie to the person who could enjoy it the way that I did………Teda, I know you were watching it with me babe!
